Times change, technologies change, and to stay on the proverbial cutting-edge means making important equipment changes when warranted.
Our laser had served us well for 15 years. But as demand for our services has grown, the need for a larger, more efficient laser became apparent. We contacted our friend, Randy, at Englewood’s Action Machinery, discussed our needs, and ultimately bought a new Mazak Laser, the four-kilowatt Optiplex Nexus Fiber Laser. We also purchased the laser’s automation package, a strong investment that now gives us a true state-of-the-art laser system.
Fiber lasers came into the marketplace five-to-six years ago. Fiber optic cable delivers the laser beam instead of the mirror used in conventional lasers. Our new system has enabled us to cut materials ten times faster and cut up to twice the metal thickness as before. The automation package reduces the amount of in-house inventory needed due to the laser’s precision performance – reducing waste and saving money – and has maximized our team’s productivity.
The new Mazak laser has allowed us to significantly broaden the scope and scale of the jobs we do, thereby providing the best service possible for our customers, no matter where they’re located.
As Randy says, “this laser system makes Metalcraft competitive globally.” It’s a description we wear proudly.
